Sammontana partners with Revet for circularity in the Lidi Green

News

Sammontana has initiated a project in collaboration with Revet, a company specialised in the collection, sorting, and recycling of materials, primarily operating in Tuscany. The project involves the introduction of pieces of furniture for cafés made entirely from plastic collected through the separate waste collection system of over 200 municipalities in Tuscany into Sammontana's partner beach resorts. These eco-friendly furnishings, distributed across the partner resorts, form part of Sammontana's efforts to promote a culture centered around waste recycling and the preservation of the marine ecosystem, which is vital for the planet's well-being.

Revet worked with the support of REA (Rosignano Energia Ambiente) to create these furnishings, including tables, chairs, and waste bins, carefully selected recycled materials and segregated packaging from Tuscan municipalities (over 30% of which is recycled), considering the material type and color.

This initiative strengthens Sammontana's commitment to its partner beach resorts and the "Lidi Green" project, which was launched in 2018 in collaboration with the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa and Spinlife. The project aims to promote environmentally "compensated" ice cream consumption in terms of CO2 emissions throughout the product's lifecycle and promoting environment consciousness in people visiting beach resorts.
