Sammontana secures the first-ever LCA Systematic Approach certificate

News

Sammontana's method to environmental impact assessment has always been characterised by a scientific and systematic approach. It has allowed to assess its products in terms of impact on climate change (expressed in kg CO2e emitted), land use and water scarcity.

With the scientific support of Spinlife, a spin-off of the University of Padua, and the methodological support of CSQA, the leading certification body for the agri-food sector, Sammontana developed and certified an innovative Management System for conducting LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies.

This new system, subject to annual certification and evaluation by a third-party entity, not only streamlines product life cycle analysis but also reduces study durations. It enables a comprehensive assessment of environmental impacts with a high level of detail, facilitating both product development (eco-design) and the evaluation of existing products.

The LCA Management System adheres to the key ISO standards relevant to life cycle analysis. This achievement marks another significant step in Sammontana's journey toward minimizing its environmental footprint.
